![]() | The Birchip Archery Club is yet a very young organisation being formed at a meeting at the Old Shamrock Hotel in 2008.The first competition was held at the South end of Tchum Lake. There was a large turn up but unfortunately the event was washed out by a freak thunder storm. |
![]() | ![]() The next effort a month later was a huge success for this area we had a spit roast and fifty four visitors stayed for tea.Our butts consisted of old inner spring matresses with the targets pinned to the front. We then graduated to straw board with sponge rubber with the targets pinned to this. |
![]() | ![]() The club continued to operate at Tchum Lake until water became availiable. It then became inpossible due to safety concernes to hold our competitions there. With the help of some generous voluntiers and much hard work from the members we loaded up our equipment and moved to the old Racecourse reserve on the Sealake Road |
![]() | ![]() The Birchip Learning Centre applied for a grant on behalf of the club and we were able to purchase enough bales of straw to set up a ten target course and a practice range. The club also obtained club bows and arrows and a storage container in which to store all our equipment. We then held a very successful come and try day with over one hundred hopefulls trying the sport. |
